I was over the moon when one of my publishers, HQ HarperCollinsUK, asked me to write an article on the linguistic elements in VOX, specifically, on the speculative (and very frightening) question of what might happen in future generations. Each time I’m asked about the genesis of the novel, I explain that it really was born from a 750-word piece of flash fiction for The Molotov Cocktail’s doomsday-themed contest in early 2017.
